Papers concerning the military service of Harris with the Northern Army during the War of 1812. Includes his discharge from the Boston Hussars, 28 Feb. 1812; appointment as a captain of Light Dragoons, 12 Mar. 1812; an order for the arrest of Capt. Nathaniel Leonard, 30 June 1814; several letters, including one from Lt. George Watts describing the condition of Gen. Winfield Scott, 29 July 1814, and one to Harris' brother describing the wounding of Gen. Gaines, 31 Aug. 1814; Harris' appointment as aid-de-camp to Major Gen. Dearborn, 18 Oct. 1814; and a sketch of Harris' military service. Also, an order to appear as a witness in the case of Major General Gaines, 23 Mar. 1816; and an order of thanks from the mayor and aldermen of Boston, Mass. to Harris for his three years of service as chief engineer of the Boston Fire Dept., 22 Dec. 1828.
